City’s MHT-CET topper from Shivaji Science College Almas Nazim

Sajal Chiddarwar from Akola topped Vidarbha and Almas Nazim from Nagpur and from medical and engineering streams respectively in the
Maharashtra Health and Technical Combined Entrance Test (MHT-CET) the results of which were declared on Sunday.

Nagpur division fared relatively badly this year after providing good results in the last two years. City’s MHT-CET topper from Shivaji Science College Almas Nazim was 16th in state merit list (SML) with a score of 194/200 marks. Almas had topped the state in recently declared HSC results.

Last year, the city had produced second toppers from state in medical as well as engineering streams. Priyanka Jog had scored 197/200 to secure second rank in SML while Paras Agrawal had scored 199/200 marks to grab second spot in state in SEEE. In 2007, Amravati division had produced state toppers in medical and engineering streams.
More shocking was the fact that not a single student from six districts of Nagpur division could find a spot in top 100 students in engineering candidates’ merit list.

Almas told TOI that poor time management had proved costly for her. According to her, students have to attempt 100 questions in 90 minutes so they should aim at solving one question in 55 seconds. She advised aspirants to concentrate more on objective type questions as it would help score more marks in entrance examinations.

The MHT-CET results were officially announced on Sunday with girls bagging top honours in medical stream and boys ruling the roost in engineering exams.
