Girls outshine boys in Maharashtra HSC exams, Nagpur girl tops

Nazeem Almas Sayyed, a girl student from Nagpur stood first in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination held this year by securing
98.50%.

The pass percentage of fresh candidates in the state was 81.92%. Among repeaters 43.63 per cent were declared successful and the overall combined pass percentage was 78.36%.

The exam was conducted by Maharashtra Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination Board in February-March this year.

The pass percentage of girls was 85.19 while for boys it was 79.40%, Vijaysheela Sardesai, Chairman of Maharashtra Secondary and Higher Secondary Education board, said.

While Sayyed topped in the overall results with 98.50 per cent marks, Deshmukh Gouri Arvind of Pune stood first among the boys. He secured 95.50% marks.

Latur division had the distinction of topping the pass percentage among eight divisions with a combined percentage of 83.50. The combined pass percentage of Mumbai division was the lowest at 74.61%.
