Stone laid for 1980 MW Koradi Thermal station expansion pla

Nagpur, Aug 13 As part of ambitious expansion of Koradi Thermal Power Station (KTPS), foundation stone for 1980 MW power plant was laid today at Koradi, near here.

The expansion plan include setting up 660x3 sets to generate 1980 MW power to augment the power supply in the state.

The stone was laid by Maharashtra Energy Minister Sunil Tatkare.

Tatkare said in the first phase, 660 MW generation set would be established by November 2013 and remaining two each of 660 MW in early 2014 and November 2014.

Reiterating state government commitment to overcome power crisis, Tatkare said Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar have extended their full co-operation in realising the project.

Super critical technology based this expansion project will use recycled water and does not require boiler drum for the set.

Rs 2386 crore is being contributed by Maharashtra Government while Power Finance Corporation will fund the remaining amount. It would provide employment opportunities to about 1400 workers.
