suspected swine flu patients at the Government Medical College

Nagpurians throng GMCH for tests

Though there were no fresh suspected swine flu
patients at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Saturday and the reports
of two patients admitted on Thursday tested negative, worried citizens from various parts of the city thronged the GMCH throughout the day for getting themselves tested.

Most of them said that they had symptoms of swine flu and had returned from Pune or had visitors from Pune. But the team attending on the patients at the GMCH handled each of them patiently clarifying their doubts and sent them back. "There were patients with all kinds of queries. Patients with even simple cold and cough came demanding testing. We had to tell them that they did not have any suspected swine flu like symptoms and hence did not require any treatment," said a senior resident on duty at the special ward.

Meanwhile, two patients, the two city youths with suspected H1N1infection admitted to the GMCH on Thursday tested negative and were discharged. Another nine-year-old boy from Wardha is still under observation as his report is still awaited. The blood, throat and nasal swap samples of five patients admitted on Friday were sent to the National Institute of Virology, Pune and are being treated symptomatically. In fact after reports of persons getting admitted at GMCH after returning from Pune no citizen with even simple cold and cough is is taking any chances. They are reporting to various private hospitals too.
