a number to identify every UoP student

To bring transparency in administration and provide students’ data at one click, the University of Pune (UoP) will provide every student of UoP with a unique identification number from this academic year. On entering the number, the system will provide his/her details to the authorities concerned.

Vice-Chancellor R K Shevgaonkar on Tuesday informed the media persons about initiatives undertaken by the varsity for automation of the whole system during the visit of Governor and Chancellor of the state universities K Sankaranarayan to the varsity. “The Chancellor was specifically interested in knowing the efforts of UoP regarding automation of the processes,” said Shevgaonkar.

He said students of various colleges affiliated to the varsity will get unique identification numbers from this academic year. “This number will be with the students as well as colleges. The data regarding a student’s admission, examination, eligibility, degree certificate will be gradually uploaded on the UoP’s network. Then any department can verify the information by using thenumbe, reducing time and manpower,” he said.
