US Consul General meets Western Coalfield officials

United States Consul General for Western India, Paul Folmsbee, held a meeting with top officials of Western Coalfield to understand the basics of the Indian coal sector and to explore opportunities for collaboration, a press note said.

Folmsbee was amazed to note that WCL's parent company Coal India Limited, the largest Coal Mining Corporate in the world, meets 42 per cent demand of primary energy consumption in India as compared to about 30 per cent by oil and gas sector combined.

D C Garg, Chairman and Managing Director of the company explained the present operations of Western Coalfields and its growth potential as a flagship subsidiary of CIL.

The opportunities for collaboration in the field of exploration, mine equipment, development of new mines on mass production technology, Coal Bed Methane and Underground Coal Gasification were discussed during the meeting, a release from the public sector undertaking said.
