nagpur :- Four get lifer for double murder

The district court awarded lifer to four accused for mercilessly lynching two persons over an old dispute in Kanhan tehsil of Nagpur  district. The accused, who hail from a Rajput family, including Sheetalsingh, Shardasingh, Vinod and Kulwarsingh, were also slapped with a fine of Rs 2,000 each.

According to the prosecution, the brutal killings date back to last year when the accused held a meeting with two victims รข€” Pramod Singh and Binnu Sharma. Last year, on August 2, the victims had met the accused with the hope of amicably settling their ongoing feud. But no such agreement could be reached.

Due to the intense hatred, the accused dragged the victims out in the open and butchered them with axes and knives.

The Kanhan police arrested the accused and produced them before the district court charging them of cold blooded murder. Defence counsel Asif Qureshi produced eight witnesses in court. Two of them, who watched the brutal killings, also testified in the court.

After considering the evidence by the defence, district judge PL Jadhav sentenced each of the accused to life imprisonment.
