nagpur :- Governor sets up search panels for V-Cs

Governor K Sankaranarayanan on Monday set up search committees for recommending a panel for the appointment of vice-chancellors to the universities of Nagpur, health science varsity in Nashik as well as Marathwada and Mahatma Phule agriculture universities.

Former UGC chairman Hari Gautam will head the search committee for Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). AIIMS director Ramesh Chandra Deka will be nominated to the academic and management council. Medical education secretary Milind Mhaiskar will represent the state government on the search committee. Currently, Nashik open university vice-chancellor R Krishnakumar has additional charge of MUHS.

Former Delhi high court chief justice A P Shah will head the search committee of Nagpur and Mahatma Phule agriculture universities. Urban development secretary T C Benjamin will be the government's nominee. Additional chief secretary N B Patil (agriculture) and Indian council of agriculture research, S Ayyapan has been nominated to the management and academic council of Mahatma Phule agriculture university. Patil and Ayyapan will also be on the search committee for the Marathwada agriculture university. Ex-CJI, Justice P N Bhagwati will head the committee.
