The Tehsil police arrested former state minister Anees Ahmed of the Congress after he allegedly slapped Abdul Karim Patel, another political leader, in full view of around 250 people who had gathered at a function held by a social organisation in Mominpura on Sunday.
Patel, the national working president of the Democratic Secular Party (DSP), alleged that Ahmed, who lost from the West Nagpur constituency in the state elections last year, lost his cool and hit him several times after being asked to donate money to a social organisation being run by him. Both the leaders were chief guests at an Id- Milan and Bachat Gat function organised by the Roshni Bahuddeshiya Sanstha at the Haj training centre in Mominpura.
