It will be a harrowing time for thousands of people using Kamptee Road for the next few days. The busy road has been closed for traffic after a cement mixer hit the railway underbridge (RUB) near the gurdwara.
The incident took place on Thursday morning when a huge cement mixer truck hit the two steel height gauges, installed for the safety of the RUB. The RUB, which was already under repairs, too was damaged in the accident.
YK Singh, PRO of Nagpur Division of Central Railway, said senior officials visited the mishap site and the damage will cost Rs 50,000 to be repaired. A police complaint has been filed with Jaripatka police station against the cement mixer truck, which has been seized by the police.
"The road will be closed for traffic from November 12 to 20 for necessary repairs. Permission to close the road from various departments have been taken," he said.
The mishap has disrupted direct connectivity to north-south-west areas. Till November 20, travellers will have to travel via Kadbi Chowk, Mecosabagh, Byramji Town, New Colony and Sadar route.
