Gadchiroli district gets its first engineering college

Gadchiroli district gets its first engineering college

The so-called backward district of Gadchiroli will get its first engineering college this year. This is the second good news for
Gadchiroli citizens in the recent past, after the state government declared the setting up of the Gondwana University in the district.

The Namdeorao Poreddiwar College of Engineering (NPCOE) on Dhanora Road, just eight kilometres from Gadchiroli city, is expected to usher in a new era of development in the area, which is underdeveloped due to its remoteness.

NPCOE is among two colleges that got late approval from the government for starting operations from the 2009-10 academic session.

The second college to get the approval belongs to Tuli Group of Institutions and will be located on the outskirts of Nagpur. “We will be offering four branches; civil, electrical, electronics and computer science, initially with combined intake of 240 seats (60 per branch).

Next year we will introduce mechanical engineering branch with initial intake of 60 seats,” said Bharat Potdukhe, joint secretary of Sardar Patel Memorial Society Trust, the parent body of NPCOE.
