Zilla Parishad president Suresh Bhoyar has asked chief executive officer Anand Bharkade to file police complaints against gram panchayat members of Isasani, Mandhal, Isapurnave, Suvandri, Jaitpur and Chala after irregularities were found in Swajaldhara drinking water scheme in these villages.
Bhoyar, during the ZP's water conservation meeting held on Saturday, issued the orders. ZP members Sunil Gedam, Mahesh Brahmanote and Kunda Raut attended the meet.
The ZP president also expressed concern over embezzlement of funds by the members of these panchayat samitis over submitting false bills against repair of water pumps. With a view to curb these malpractices, the committee members have unanimously decided that henceforth these bills will have to get clear from ZP's deputy engineer (water works department).
Drinking water supply to villagers from Nagardhan, Mansar, Waidola, Shitalwadi, Pijewada and Kandri were disconnected after the gram panchayats failed to pay the arrears. However, the ZP has come to the rescue of these villages and paid Rs 12 lakh as arrears of water bills. Bhoyar, however, formed a committee in these villages that would ensure recovery of water arrears from villagers.
