Air passenger shows swine flu symptoms, sent to GMCH

The doctors at Nagpur airport sent a 27-year-old man — who arrived from Sharjah and showed swine flu like symptoms
— to the Government
Medical College and Hospital on Thursday morning.

The man, who hails from Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, was picked by the doctors deputed especially to screen passengers at the Nagpur airport.

The patient has been admitted to the isolation ward for swine flu patients.

“He has fever, cold and cough and the doctors at airport sent him directly to GMCH. Since no one accompanied him, we will inform his family and take care for his food and clothing. His blood, throat and nose swap samples have been sent to National Institute of Virology, Pune, for tests,” said Dr LR Lunge, public relations officer, GMCH.

He happens to be the third suspected patient admitted to GMCH with swine flu like symptoms. The other two suspected patients — a student from Akola and other a WCL employee — were discharged after they tested negative for the disease.

The student from Akola had returned from Australia had approached the medical college on his own after suffering from fever and cold. The WCL official too had returned from a tour of four countries with his family.
