The incident happened at Rastrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Mahavidyalaya in Chimur when a flying squad led by physical education department official Yeshwant Patil and assistant registrar Prashant Mohite raided the college on Saturday. The team also caught 39 students for indulging in malpractices. Of these, 10 students fled away from the centre. The university lodged a complaint against principal PV Anthony and centre invigilator SB Gaikwad with the police.
Confirming the incident, pro-vice chancellor GS Parasher said that strict action will be taken against the duo.
He said that on Friday, the university received information that mass copying was going on in collusion with invigilator and college officials at Rastrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Mahavidyalaya in Chimur since last few days. The college was a centre for bachelor of physical education (BPEd) examinations.
A seven-member flying squad found students writing answers with books in their hands and teachers missing from the classrooms. In other classroom where sociology exam were underway, the squad caught a student indulging in unfair means, Parasher said. Superintendent of police Sudhakar Pathare helped authorities by promptly dispatching a team of officials on the university’.
