Headmaster duped of Rs 10 lakh

Headmaster duped of Rs 10 lakh

Dhantoli police have rounded up a 52-year-old man and his 21-year-old son for allegedly duping a headmaster to the tune of Rs 10 lakh and
also assaulting him in their premises at Vivekanand Nagar on Wednesday.

Madhusudan Mude, headmaster of an Uday Nagar-based Major Hemant Jakate Vidya Niketan and director of Gurudeo Shikshan Sanstha, claimed that he was allegedly confined in an office room where a group of culprits rained blows on him at the instance of accused Narendra Pandey.

Apart from unidentified persons, Pandey’s son Ashish was also part of the group which assaulted him. Police have arrested both Pandey and Ashish. “I had given Rs 10 lakh in cash to Pandey for ensuring government approval for a college that had already got recommendation from Nagpur University,” said Mude who sustained minor injuries in the attack.

“I am already having a school and dreamt of starting a college offering Bachelor of Business of Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) courses. In October 2008, I had applied to the university for requisite permission,” said Mude.

“The documents were prepared for the government sanction which I duly handed over to Pandey for forwarding to the department concerned in the mantralaya. Pandey had assured that he would ensure approval for my proposed college,” he said.

“The first list of approved colleges was released around a month ago. I could not find my institution’s name in it. Pandey assured that it would be present in the subsequent list but it was not there in the four lists released so far. The code of conduct was imposed after the date of election (state assembly) was declared. Pandey then started saying nothing could be done anymore.

He also promised to return my money,” said Mude adding that he was beaten up when he went to collect the money. “I escaped narrowly after they hurled a hammer at me,” said he. Mude, along with his wife Sheila, later visited Dhantoli police station to lodge a complaint.
