Even though the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has done away with the state merit list and announcing the names of top rankers for this year's MHT-CET, the colleges all over the state have published list of their students excelling in the exam based on State Merit List (SML) number given on the mark-sheet.
With this, the very purpose of not declaring the merit list to de-stress students and to discourage competition among them has been defeated.
The colleges, including Shivaji Science and Dr Ambedkar, have published the names of students along with their SML and regional standing. Accordingly, Monal Jadwani stood first in the region and fifth in the state with 196/200 marks while Pradnya Chaudhari is a state topper in the ST category with 180/ 200 marks in the medical stream. Akola's Ankita Sarda, who was the region's Std XII topper, got 198 to emerge best in Vidarbha region in engineering.
