Claiming to have been cheated by a company which had promised to give jobs in the railways, around 20 to 25 people created a ruckus at its Hanuman Nagar office on Saturday afternoon. They calmed down only after the owner of the company, Sushant Mishra, was rounded up by the Ajni cops.
The amount involved in the fraud according to the students is Rs 40 lakhs. Since the cops are questioning the owner, no complaint has been registered yet.
One of the complainants, Mohammad Shah of Kanhan, alleged that last year Mishra had taken Rs 3.40 lakh from him and assured to provide a job in Delhi. Mishra`s agent had taken Shah to Delhi and Mumbai where they made fake identity cards.
Shah alleged that he was asked to appear for the medical exam and return to the city assuring that he will be called again soon. However, when Shah did not get a call, he contacted the agents who told him that the post has been filled by others. They asked Shah to appear next year.
Shah then gathered others who had faced the same problem and staged a protest. Like Shah, Raju Chaurasia of Umred was duped of Rs 2.90 lakh and Dhiraj Nagdewate of Rs 2.80 lakh.
Mishra also runs a fire engineering college on Umred Road.
