A number of universities from across the country will participate in the competition, said a press release.
The sports department of TMU has organised the competition. While the competition for men will be held from December 10-13, the women’s bouts will be held from December 14-17.
As many as 55 teams have registered for the event including Bastar University, Jabalpur, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, VNS Gujarat University, Surat, Punjab University, Patiyala, Jeevaji University, Gwalior, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jaipur, Usmania University, Hyderabad, Kolkata University and Vikram University, Ujjain.
“There are entries from within the state too, including Uttar Maharashtra University, Shivaji University, RTM Nagpur University and Maharashtra Medical Science University, Nashik,” said Tilak. “The competitions will be held in 55, 60, 65, 73, 81, 90 and 100 Kg categories,” he said.
“Judo could widen its horizons in the city owing to efforts of Poona Judo Association. The association has now also established links with Kodakan Judo Institute, Tokyo too,” he added.
