The sweet little quirks of Nagpurians are now up for public display. The annual Chhand Mahotsav (festival of hobbies) is to enthrall viewers this weekend. Friday would see the event kick starting and the exhibits would be up on for the next two days at Rana Pratap Hall, Shankar Nagar. Along with the usual fare one expects from such an event, several out-of-the-ordinary hobbyists from the city have put up their collections on display, too.
While Arun Gulhane would present his collection of replicas of various temples from across the country, Anita Sarda is all set to take patriotism to an all new level by bringing along her collection called 'Desh Ki Dharti'. This is the collection of soils from various parts of India.
Shrikant Bobade would be the object of envy for many a pair of eyes as he puts up his collection of Mercedes Benz cars. Another mentionable exhibit would be the cattle ornament collection of Jhaki Ullah Khan.
The expo would also feature collections of origami, wood art, soap carvings, shells, aeromodels and coins among various artefacts. Ramesh Satpute, who has been orgainising the Chhand Mahotsav for more than five years now, revealed that they had visited the various collectors and hobby enthusiasts of the city and requested them to be a part of this exhibition.
"I am sure that this expo would be a very informative one and would take the students away from the bookish knowledge they have always depended on," said Omkar Kapse of Happy Club, a youth organization that has joined hands to organize the festival this year.
