Police recover obscene clips

Police have recovered obscene clips of over 15 girls hailing from Amravati, Nagpur and Wardha from the CPU of Ankit Gupta who is in custody for making a private MMS of girl public.

Police had nabbed Ankit Gupta and Lokesh Rathod on December 29 for making MMS of a girl public. Lokesh was said to have an affair with the girl and had made clippings of his private meetings with the help of Ankit. Therefore, the police seized the CPU of Ankit, who owned a mobile shop in the city, to get more clues in the case. But Ankit had already deleted data in CPU. Therefore, it was sent to the forensic laboratory. The police found over 132 obscene and porno clippings some of which were downloaded from internet. The cops also recovered over 15 clippings of girls some of whom hailed from Nagpur and Wardha. It was known that the accused had sold clippings to some students and others in the city.

Police had called the girls concerned for interrogation but they refused to reveal details. Commissioner of police Amitesh Kumar said that it appeared that the recording of the clips was done with the consent of girl but published without permission. A large number of pornographic clips were found in the memory card and CPU of Gupta which were sold at a rate of Rs 50 a piece. A few months back, the state government had released a circular banning the use of mobile phones in school and college by students.

Talking to TOI, VG Thakare, principal of Shri Shivaji Science College, said that "We have already banned the use of cell phone by students in college. To avoid misuse, the parents should not buy cellphones for their wards, he said.

Principal of Shri Brijlal Biyani Science College Dr S Lohiya said that it was difficult to follow the GR scrupulously as students can keep phones on vibration mode. But we definitely take action against those students talking on cellphones. But once the college is over how can we control them? The parents should guide their wards to use cellphones properly, he said.

Jaya Khadilkar, parent of a polytechnic student, said that her son had to go to tuition and music classes while the college is far off from the house. Hence she had given her son a cellphone to stay in contact. She said she kept vigil and was confident that he would not misuse it, said Khadilkar.
