Guardian minister Shivajirao Moghe and national president of Bharatiya Janata Party Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the Nagpur Mahotsava, which is being organized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation at the Yeshwant Stadium, on February 9 at 11am.

The Nagpur Mahotsava will have something in store for everybody. On the inaugural day of the festival the major attraction will be 'char laina' fame Hindi poet Surendra Sharma - the straight-faced, glum looking poet who is well-known for his funny limericks or poetry. Along with Sharma other renowned poets Dr Kumar Vishwasm Popular Merthi, Vedvrat Vajpayee, Sampat Saral and Dayashankar Tiwari 'Moun' will entertain Nagpurians with their selected Hindi poems.

On February 10, renowned Marathi film stars Sonali Kulkarni, Sharvari Jamenis, Shruti Marathe and Deepali Sayyad will perform a dance based programme 'Navrang' while young Marathi singers Prashant Naseri, Hrishikesh Ranade, Swapnaja Lele, Prasad Oak and Yogita Godbole will perform a musical night, Joshi stated.

For music lovers, a classical music-based 'Talchakra' (fusion) will be presented by young and talented classical exponent Rahul Deshpande along with Pt Vijay Ghate (tabla), Mansi Tapikar (classical dance), Mukul Dongre (drums), Santosh Mulekar (synthesizer) on Feb 12. On the concluding day there will be a lot more music in the form of a musical night from noted singers like Suresh Wadkar and winner of Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa series Vaishali Made.

Joshi said, "For the first time in history, the civic body has organized a festival on such a large scale. This festival will entirely change the city's image and bring it on the cultural map like Pune and Aurangabad. A provision of Rs 2 crore has already been made for the festival in the annual budget, however, the 5-day festival will need hardly Rs 75 to 80 lakh."
