The crucial general body meeting (GBM) of teachers of Delhi University English Department to decide on the revision of undergraduate courses for the semester system is scheduled for Wednesday.
Each undergraduate course has at least one mandatory paper designed by the department, making this meeting essential for the semesterisation scheme. If the meet rejects the semester system, then no course can have it.
The meeting is likely to touch upon three courses: The department will decide on the shift to semester mode of its BA (Hons) course, its BA programmes and English papers for other BA (Hons) courses.
Another aspect that is likely to be discussed is if the paper in Business Communication offered to B Com students would be handled by the Commerce department. The English department may stake claim over it. The Technical Writing paper offered to students of BSc (Hons) is mired in controversy (see box) and its fate will be decided only after April 28.
