National meet at YCCE

Department of Civil Engineering, Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE), Hingna Road, Wanadongri, is organising a national conference on 'Challenges and recent advances in environmental management' at CCC auditorium of the college on March 25 at 10am. Director of National Environmental Engineering Institute (Neeri) S R Wate will inaugurate the conference. More than 25 selected papers from all over the country will be presented in the conference which will be attended by about 200 delegates.


Agrawal Sanstha fair: Hatheli (Agrawal Mahila Sanstha) will organise a fair at Shri Agrasen Bhavan, Ravi Nagar on March 26. The fair will consist of different stalls of food, jewellery, gift items and games. Gangaur Utsav, Holi Milan etc will be the main attraction in the event. LAD college alumni meet: The alumni association of LAD college is organising an annual alumni meet in the conference hall of Shankar Nagar Campus of LAD and Smt R P College for Women on April 2 at 11am. Pandit Mehta's discourse: Vedmata Gayatri Navshakti Mandir is organising discourses on 'Hanumant Panchamrut Katha', by Pandit Vijayshankar Mehta from Ujjain, at Bajrang Dham, Patidar Bhavan, Quetta Colony from March 29 to April 2. The programme will start with a grand shobhayatra from Gayatri Navshakti Bhavan to Bajrang Dham on March 29 at 8am. Discourses will be held daily from 4pm to 7pm. Dhyan of Hanuman Chalisa will be held on March 30 in the morning.

World Forest Day celebrated: Nagpur Territorial Circle of the state forest department celebrated World Forestry Day on March 21. Those involved in forest protection were felicitated. The first prize of Rs 51,000 was bagged by Surevani village in Khapa range under the joint forest management (JFM). This was followed by Sitakhari village in Hingna and Ambazari village in Parsheoni. Kundan Hate, Amol Khante and others, who played a key role in saving 40 monkeys trapped in Gosikhurd reservoir, were also feted. Those involved in saving the leopard in Hari Vela recently were also honoured. The function was chaired by CCF Krishna Mohan. CCF A K Saxena and CFs A Ashraf and N Rambabu were also present.


Annual gathering organised: Balak Mandir run by Mahila Samaj Seva Samiti, Central Railway, Nagpur division organised an annual gathering at its school Ajni recently. Mamata Sharma, president of the samiti, presided over the function. While guiding to the students, chief guest of the function and divisional railway manager, Central Railway, Devendra Kumar Sharma said all facilities for overall development of the students will be provided so that the passouts become assets for development of the nation. Prizes were distributed for the essay and drawing competition winner students and meritorious students.


Synergie-2011 held: Government Medical College students organised a Vidarbha-level inter collegiate sport competition 'Synergie-2011' recently. Medical, dental and ayurvedic colleges from Vidarbha were participated in cricket, volleyball, basketball and football competitions. Jayashri Jichkar presided over the inaugural function. Prizes were given to the winners by the dean Dr Rajaram Powar. Professors and students were present musical programme in the concluding programme.


Awareness programme on TB: On the occasion of World TB Day, Save Multipurpose Society and NMC City TB department conducted medical awareness programme on 'TB and its ill effects' for the students at Jan Shikshan Sanstha Pradhyapak Vidyalaya, Ravinagar recently. Dr Bhiwgade, Nitin Bawne and Kamaljeet Kaur spoke on different aspects of TB dots and diet management.


Industrial motivation campaign: Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises ( MSME) and entrepreneurship development cell of CIBMRD organised a programme on industrial motivation campaign recently. Assistant director (Chem) Rajesh Kumar Verma and assistant director (Mech) Kishore Irpate were the speakers.


Bhoomipujan held: West Nagpur MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh performed bhoomipujan of internal roads of ward number 15 Friends Colony. MLA Deshmukh has given Rs 5 lakh for road from his MLA fund. President of BJP (West Nagpur), Sanjay Bangale, Kisan Gawande, Sunil Mitra and others were present on the occasion.
