Nagpur student’s murder, 21-year-old engineering student, Monica Kirnapure murdered, Commissioner of Police Ankush Dhanvijay
Four days after 21-year-old engineering student Monica Kirnapure was murdered on a busy street near her college here, the police are clueless about her killers. Monica was murdered on March 11 with a sharp weapon in full view of the public by two masked youths who were riding a motorbike. Monica was on her way to the SRM Girls’ Engineering College.
Commissioner of Police Ankush Dhanvijay said, “We got call details of her number, but the BSNL was unable to provide us the names of the person who had sent her 58 SMSes prior to murder. The BSNL says it is a technical lacuna since the SMSes are routed through a service centre where the name of the person doesn’t get registered.” He added that the killers taking her mobile phone away has been the main handicap.
“Our hands have been tied down also by her peer group’s silence about a possible story behind her murder,” he said.
