to him and NU's management council over allotment of university land to Bharatiya Janata Party for the latter's national convention. Now members of university senate are set to corner him on a slew of contentious issues during the regular meet on Tuesday.

According to the insiders, some members have raised questions on Pathan's long absence from office during his tenure of four and half years. The have specifically asked for how many days he remained in the office and how many outside. The issue of VC's absenteeism was raised by TOI on completion of his four years in office. The paper had reported how Pathan's affinity to his native place Pune had led him to remaining absent from his duties here most of the time. His absence and slow decision making as a result will come up for discussion in the senate.

A member Ambadas Mohite will be presenting a calling attention motion on mushrooming of the new colleges in the university which, he says will lead to collapse of the entire system one day. Mohite points out that even as university crosses the mark of 750 affiliated colleges, it lacks teachers and other manpower. Moreover, a majority of colleges lack even the basic facilities and infrastructure. They flout all rules and regulations required for opening up of an institution by managing permissions from the government and the university by adopting corrupt practices.

Mohite has also highlighted problem of examination section which conducts over 750 examinations in an academic year. Due to sudden increase in number of colleges, the exam section is under severe burden, as it does not have adequate staff. As a result, several problems are cropping up in valuation and results are also getting delayed. Mohite has demanded no permission be given to any new colleges until these problems are solved.

The members will also be cornering administration on Maharashtra Knowledge Company Limited (MKCL) collecting Rs 50 from every enrolled student in the university but failing to fulfill its promise of providing online system for everything including admissions to results. Even the university's website is not updated for months rendering it useless for the students.

The issues that were pending from last Senate meeting on March 22 will come up for discussion first on Tuesday. It includes expanding scope of 'Earn and Learn' scheme by Dr Ratnakar Dhamankar and demand for audio recording of the Senate proceedings by Mohite.
