"Since we are not against development, we will give the Maharashtra government some time to accept the terms on which the farmers are willing to part with their land, like right compensation and effective rehabilitation. The government has failed to meet these demands and has till date failed to clear doubts on how it would provide 12.5% developed land in the project to the oustees. Moreover, the offer of transfer of development rights (TDR) is also flawed as around 400 hectares released through it cannot be absorbed and the poor farmers will be at the receiving end of the bargain," said Goswami.
If the government failed to respond to a set deadline, the oustees would move court for relief and demand return of their land, said the Jan Morcha leader.
