NAGPUR NEWS:-City studentsattempt musicalchair record

NAGPUR: At first, the array of heads looked like a giant millipede weaving its way through rows of chairs kept in the middle of the ground. It

was only when one got adjusted to the sight of thousands of students running and stopping simultaneously along with the music from speakers that one realised what the event was about.

Organised by the Nagpur unit of Junior Chamber International (JCI) at Yeshwant Stadium on Tuesday, 10,129 children participated in this musical chair contest. The JCI members are now trying to get this feat registered with the Guinness World Records. The event was organised to spread awareness about global warming.

It was inaugurated early morning in the presence of city's commissioner of police Praveen Dixit and Santhosh Kumar P, the national president of JCI India. Students from 45 schools came in school buses or 40 buses hired by JCI for bringing the students to the venue and taking them back.

The students were from standard 5 to 9 and they seemed to be having a great time. Madhulika Dhole of Mount Carmel school informed that around 900 girls from her school had come for the event. "We have arranged for ample drinking water and mobile washrooms for the children. We also have staff from the Orange City Hospital on standby in case of a medical emergency. Also, for the top 100 students in musical chairs, we have arranged for more refreshments. We had told schools not to send any student not fit enough to participate," said JCI Hemal Nadiyana, president of the Nagpur JCI.
