Intelligence agencies remained on their toes on Friday, the day after the Ayodhya title suit case. The sleuths were engaged in gauging the mood of the both Hindu and Muslim communities who were part of the litigations.
While the entire city was under their scanner, the cops ensured that they did not lose the opportunity to listen to the sermons and speeches delivered by the spiritual leaders at the different religious venues.
The cops had also ensured that they remained in proximity to the places where the devotees assembled for offering Friday prayers.
Officers were present on the streets at sensitive locations at the time of namaaz with a considerable number of manpower waiting in a police van. At most places, the cops tactically had left the police vans parked a distance away from the mosques so as to not hurt the sentiment of any devotee.
Though there was no hint of any trouble, the cops remained on high alert mostly operating under cover. Despite the presence on streets, the cops tried hard trying to send a message that `all`s well` to the citizens.
While the khaki-clad cops were mostly spotted on the streets, it was learnt that their plaincloth counterparts mingled among the devotees trying to look for even a hint of any undercurrent of disaffections or dissension regarding the court decision.
Intelligence sleuths had ensured that their focus remained on the collection of inputs regarding reactions of both Hindu and Muslim communities regarding the Thursday`s rulings in the six-decade old litigations of Ayodhya.
Though the low-intensity blast in the bar room in the district court premises had triggered much panic on Thursday, the intelligence sleuths preferred to give it a second preference. It was a section of the Nagpur unit of state anti-terrorist squad (ATS) that had delved into some brain-wracking regarding the unexplained crude bomb blast.
"We are expecting a lull period before any manifestation of the reaction from any community regarding the verdict may come to fore. The corner meetings of motley groups are on in both the communities in the core groups but the content of such discussions have been kept away from the masses for the fear of getting it leaked. Now, both the communities know that rubbing the law on the wrong side could prove costly for them as cops are on high alert, said a source in the intelligence network," said a police officer.
