He also challenged Congress leaders Manikrao Thakre and Wamanrao Kasawar to prove their innocence by subjecting themselves to an impartial CBI probe into the land scam, after resigning from their legislative posts. "I am willing to resign my legislature seat. Let the Congress leaders of the district too resign their posts to fight me in the court of law," Sanjay Rathod challenged.
Rathod was talking to this scribe on phone from Nagpur after the Speaker announced his decision to suspend five Shiv Sena MLAs including himself for lifting the speaker's mace and disturbing the official proceedings of the house on the opening day of the state legislature's winter session at Nagpur.
"I raised my voice on the floor of the house to call immediate attention of the house towards the sad plight of the farmers of Vidarbha," a much agitated Rathod said, adding that who will plead for the poor farmers if not public representatives like him.
"The working president of Shiv Sena Uddhav Thakeray is scheduled to reach Nagpur on Friday and there after we will chalk out our plan to meet the challenges and terror let loose by the corrupt government," Rathod said.
"I am a member of the Nomadic Tribes and always keeps the Constitution in high esteem," Rathod said, adding that the government had plans to keep them out of the Assembly to avoid answering their questions.
Meanwhile, Yavatmal MP Bhavana Gawali has termed the suspension of five Shiv Sena MLAs for one year as most unfortunate and arbitrary. She said that the scam ridden government could not suppress the real voice of the people of the region.
