Car owner Jeevan Dhime had gone to NIT office for work. He had left his car parked near Bishop Cotton School. Dhime was left baffled after he noticed that the glass window of the rear seat, behind the driver's, was broken.
The bag, which had cash and other documents like bank account books in it, too was missing. Dhime approached the cops. Senior officers from Sadar police station reached the spot. Police said the miscreants seemed to have used some special tool or technique that ensured the noise of the shattering glass did not attract attention of the crowd in the busy street.
Following the chain-snatching incidents, the latest run of the swift glass smashers, targeting cars seemed to be keeping the cops on the tenterhooks. Senior city cops are learnt to be gearing up to counter the latest trend.
