Naxals begin agitation against price rise, corruption

Naxals have threatened to throw the district administration out of the gear during their 'Virodh Diwas' (protest day) agitations that began from February 4 to 6 and bandh on February 7 across India protesting government's failure to keep the prices of essential commodities under check.

Naxals already started their offensive by firing at Laheri sub-police station in Bhamragarh tehsil in the early hours of Saturday. The rebels retreated after the cops retaliated. They also set afire a road roller of private contractor between Bhamragarh and Laheri later in the day.

The road between Bhamragarh and Laheri was blocked by the Naxals. The cops had cleared the Etapalli-Alapalli road which the Naxals had closed a day before. The ral-rich hinterlands.
