GMCH set to go online

The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur is all set to go online with their new website to be launched on Friday.

Though the GMCH already has an online presence, the existing website is run by the alumni and not by the college authorities. Besides, this site is registered as that belonging to an organisation (www.gmcnagpur.org.in) and has not been updated for some time now.

In contrast, the new website, registered with the government of India as belonging to a government run entity (www.gmcnagpur.gov.in), would be officially run by the GMC administration.

Collector of Nagpur, Praveen Darade would be the chief guest during the inauguration of the website, while his wife and additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Dr Pallavi Darade would be the guest of honour. Dr Darade also happens to be an alumnus of the GMC.

The administration of the college also ensured that unlike the other website, this website would be upgraded on a regular basis. The college itself would be responsible for uploading the relevant contents on this site.

Loaded with information relevant and helpful for patients, this website would contain all information as specified as being necessary to provide by a government run institution under the Right To Information Act.

Information regarding the various departments and their officials, teaching as well as non teaching staff, including the email addresses of all the heads of departments, would be put up on the site. It would also be used for displaying the results of the students as well as a list of all enrolled students.

All the events that have taken place or are about to take place at the hospital would also be put up here.

The college authorities believe that the website would make it possible for an increased transparency in the way they run the institute.
