BCCI secretary N Srinivasan is extremely disappointed with the way the Indian batting line-up collapsed during the thrilling match against South Africa in Nagpur last Saturday.
Srinivasan, who paid a visit to the media centre during the West Indies-England encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Thursday, said, “I left Jamtha when they were 261 for one. By the time I reached the airport, they were all out! You can’t lose nine wickets for 29 runs. It’s not done.”
When asked as to why the team was regularly skipping training sessions, Srinivasan expressed his displeasure and asked the media not to give MS Dhoni & Co too much publicity.
“It’s best you don’t go (to cover their training sessions). As it is, they get too much publicity. Once they don’t get it (publicity), they will be OK,” he said.
Earlier on Thursday, Srinivasan and chief selector Kris Srikkanth met India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the team hotel. The trio had a long discussion. Both Srinivasan and Srikkanth are believed to have expressed their unhappiness over the below-par performance of the team.
The bowlers’ performance has left them worried. The team composition for Saturday’s match against the West Indies was also discussed.
