agpur, Apr 28 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan today attended a mass marriage ceremony, where 773 couples tied the knot, at Nagbhid in Chandrapur district. The function had been organised by `Vijay Wadettiwar Mitra Mandal', and witnessed a huge turn-out. The couples belonged to various communities. Speaking on the occasion, Chavan said such functions were necessary to promote communal harmony. He said that government was committed for the welfare of Dalits and tribal community, and yesterday the state had issued transit passes to tribals to sell bamboo, for the first time in the country.
