here seem to be no takers for online test of the All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) being held on Sunday. The test is being conducted for the first time in two options (paper-based and online), but students from Nagpur are not keen to take the test online. Some students who TOI spoke still had memories of how the Common Admission Test (CAT) attempt to go online resulted in a fiasco.
Just over 11 lakh students across the country will appear for AIEEE on Sunday which is one of the top competitive exams in the country. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the exam annually through which students seek entry to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) seats as well as over a hundred engineering colleges.
The CBSE was hoping to get a good response to the online option for the AIEEE but only 0.5% (approximately 4,900 students) of the total registered students have opted for it.
