Karm Kalyankari Sanstha (KKS) has urged citizens not to use plastic flags on Independence Day.
Since 2004, KKS has been collecting flags from the streets. "Citizens should be careful with flags. They should ensure that flags are not thrown in dustbins or on the streets. Parents should be careful when handing over flags to their children. They must monitor the actions of their wards," said a member of KKS.
"Citizens should use only paper flags. Torn and damaged flags should be picked. Promote and encourage the use of tricolour badges on Independence Day," added the member.
