Irrespective of reports of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and a section of BJP leaders being unhappy with the party president, Nitin Gadkari, over revelations against his company, sources told Headlines Today on Thursday that top sanghchalaks were firmly behind him.
Sources said top RSS functionaries were of the view that based on allegations of fictitious funding in his company, decision could not be taken against Gadkari.
However, according to sources, Gadkari would still meet RSS top brass and present his case before them. They, however, said that the RSS was still worried about perception on corruption.
Sources said Gadkari has cancelled his trip to Delhi and would stay back in Nagpur. He was likely to meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to give a detailed explanation of the allegations against him.
They said Gadkari would also campaign for the party in Himachal Pradesh on October 27 ahead of the assembly election in the state.
It has been alleged that during Gadkari's tenure as Maharashtra PWD minister from 1995 to 1999, a company IRB was given several major infrastructure projects in the state. Consequently, IRB allegedly invested heavily in Gadkari's firm Purti Group. Both Gadkari and IRB have denied the charges.
