“School Education Department, GoM is responsible for administration of elementary, secondary and higher secondary education in the state. The Department is one of the largest in terms of the number of stakeholders it manages with more than 20 million students and more than 6 lakh teachers being a part of school education ecosystem in Maharashtra.
The broad functions of the Department revolve around:
  • Promotion and Administration of Elementary and Secondary Education in the state
  • Curriculum design and text book publication
  • Conducting board and scholarship examinations
  • Implementation of provisions of Right to Education Act
  • Design and implement policies that improve Quality of Education in the state
  • Conceptualize and implement Teacher Training programs
  • Implementation of central schemes such as Mid-day meal, scholarships, etc.
  • Provision of admissions to First Year Junior college via online mechanism
  • Developing policies and practices that would encourage and facilitate sporting activities across the state
The Department has eight different directorates looking after specific functions relating to school education and has an independent body in terms of MPSP for implementation of provisions of SarvShikshaAbhiyaan.

As the Result of 10th (SSC) class Examination is declared now 10th June 2017 Examinations conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the admission process for standard 11th will start from Wednesday, June 14. The students have to apply by June 15. The Official Website.

This admission procedure will be for science & Bifocal streams only. The Central Admission Committee (CAC) has announced the time-table for the admissions. The students will get the application forms from the respective schools. And they will have to submit the application at the application centre. A zonal-wise application centre has been opened for the students from outside the city, CBSE and other divisions . For more information about the admission, the students can approach the main centre of CAC at Dhanwatey National College, Congress nagar. There are 143 junior colleges in the city, having 20,125 seats including science & bifocal streams. The admissions for Arts and Commerce streams will be conducted at the college level only.

Student Admissions List for Class 11th Started 2017-18 After 10th Admissions for Class 11th Started 2017-18 दहावीची परीक्षा यशस्वीपणे पूर्ण केल्यानंतर आता ‘मिशन अॅडमिशन’च्या महाभारताला विद्यार्थ्यांना सोमोरे जावे लागणार आहे. गेल्यावर्षी प्रमाणे ११वीसाठी एकूण जागा आणि उत्तीर्ण विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या अधिक असल्याने त्याचा फटका अकरावी प्रवेशप्रक्रियेला बसणार आहे. त्यातच यंदाही सीबीएसई आणि आयसीएसई विभागाच्या निकालाची वाढती टक्केवारी, ९० टक्क्यांहून अधिक गुण मिळविणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांची प्रचंड संख्या यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांना नामांकित कॉलेजांच्या प्रवेशसाठी तारेवरची कसरतच करावी लागणार आहे. अनेक नामांकित कॉलेजांची कट ऑफ यागी नव्वदपार जाणार असल्याचे प्राचार्यांकडून सांगण्यात येते आहे.
 
राज्य शिक्षण मंडळातर्फे मंगळवारी दहावी बोर्डाचा निकाल जाहीर करण्यात आला असून मुंबई विभागाचा निकाल हा ९०.०९ टक्के लागला आहे. मुंबई विभागातून एकूण ३ लाख ८ हजार ९९६ विद्यार्थी उत्तीर्ण झाले आहेत. तर काही दिवसांपूर्वी शिक्षण उपसंचालकांनी जाहीर केलेल्या अकरावीच्या उपलब्ध जागेनुसार २ लाख ९२ हजार जागा आहेत. मुंबई विभागातून एकूण विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये रायगड, पालघर आणि इतर काही जिल्ह्यातील विद्यार्थ्यांचा समावेश असल्याने एकूण विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या थोडी कमी होईल खरी पण प्रवेश प्रक्रियेवर त्याचा थेट परिणाम होणार असल्याची माहिती अनेक प्राचार्यांनी दिली.

सीबीएसई आणि आयसीएसई बोर्डातून उत्तीर्ण विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या जमेस धरल्यास हा आकडा साधारण तीन लाखांच्या आसपास जाण्याची शक्यता आहे. त्यातच सीबीएसई आणि इतर राज्यांच्या मंडळांचे ९० टक्क्यांहून अधिक गुण मिळविणाऱ्या विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या जास्त आहेत. त्यामुळे अकरावी प्रवेशासाठी तारेवरची कसरतच करावी लागणार आहे. यंदा राज्य शिक्षण मंडळाच्या ९० टक्क्यांहून अधिक गुण मिळालेल्या विद्यार्थ्यांची संख्या एक हजाराने कमी झाली आहे. सीबीएसई, आयसीएसईच्या विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये ९० टक्क्यांपेक्षा अधिक गुण मिळवणाऱ्यांची संख्या मोठी असल्याने राज्यात एसएससीच्या विद्यार्थ्यांना चांगल्या कॉलेजात प्रवेश मिळवण्यासाठी झगडावे लागणार आहे. मुंबई आणि उपनगरातील रुईया, पोदार, रुपारेल, साठ्ये, केसी, एचआर, मिठीबाई, कीर्ती आणि हिंदुजा यांसारख्या नामवंत कॉलेजातील प्रवेशासाठी तिन्ही मंडळाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये मोठी चढाओढ असेल.

एकही विद्यार्थी प्रवेशापासून वंचित राहणार नाही!
राज्य शिक्षण मंडळाने जाहीर केलेल्या निकालाच्या आकडेवारीनंतर अकरावी प्रवेशाच्या जागा कमी असल्याने अनेक विद्यार्थी प्रवेशापासून वंचित राहण्याची भीती व्यक्त केली जात होती. ही शक्यता शिक्षण उपसंचालक बी. बी. चव्हाण यांनी फेटाळून लावली आहे. मुंबई विभागीय मंडळात रायगड, पालघर जिल्ह्याचा देखील समावेश आहेत.

अकरावी प्रवेशाचे वेळापत्रक आज
दहावीच्या निकालानंतर आता सर्वांचे लक्ष अकरावी प्रवेशप्रक्रियेच्या वेळापत्रकाकडे लागले आहे. त्यानुसार बुधवारी या प्रवेशाचे वेळापत्रक जाहीर करण्यात येईल, अशी माहिती शिक्षण उपसंचालक बी. बी. चव्हाण यांनी दिली.
