An active monsoon has ensured good storage in most reservoirs of district. But, ironically, the irrigation department is in dark about how much rain has fallen at several reservoir sites.
There are 30 reservoirs in the Nagpur district and of these, six do not have a rain gauge at all and the gadget has developed a snag at eight reservoirs.
Sources in district collectorate said that in Nagpur tehsil there were three reservoirs and all of them have a problem in measuring rainfall.
They are Wakeshwar, Telhara, and Surabardi. Ramtek tehsil has seven reservoirs and all of them have working rain gauges. Hingna has five and three - Salaimendha, Jhilpi and Nandora — do not have rain gauges.
Umrer has the most reservoirs at 12. However, technical snag prevents rainfall from being measured at seven of them.
