The bone of contention is a two acre land belonging to ZP in Bhiwapur, which the district administration wants for a construction a court. ZP had passed a resolution in general body meeting a few months ago striking down the proposal. However, Moghe during a press briefing on Thursday, said that ZP could be easily overruled by divisional commissioner. "It is government land and government can take it back whenever it wants," he had said.
This infuriated Rathi who told later mediapersons that if ZP land was to be acquired for development work then ZP would seek government land for 52 projects, whose proposals were pending. "I will not give an inch of ZP land even if a minister demands it. Let them take whatever action they want to," he said.
Rathi slammed district collector Pravin Darade for bringing up land acquisition issue in the meeting of district planning council (DPC). "This issue was in no way related to DPC," an angry Rathi said. Earlier, the DPC sanctioned an outlay of Rs 219.70 crore for the year 2011-12. In addition, the Nagpur DPC has demanded Rs 191.79 crore from the state government for its various proposed projects. These grants have been sought for the general, scheduled castes (SC) and tribal plans and other tribal sub plan (OTSP).
District collector Darade presented a statement of accounts for 2010-11. He told ministers Nitin Raut, Rajendra Mulak, Anil Deshmukh and MLAs that Rs 11.60 crore were left under general plan against a requirement of Rs 25.55 crore. The respective figures for other plans were: SC plan - Rs 2.45 crore and Rs 3.40 crore, Tribal plan - Rs 3.45 crore and Rs 3.25 crore and OTSP - Rs 2.46 crore and Rs 4.55 crore.
