Shivaji Science College's Ishant Khot emerged the second topper in the state in the results of the 'rescheduled' All India Engineering and Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) declared on Sunday. He was nationally ranked 36 {+t} {+h} and second behind Mumbai's Shubham Lalwani in Maharashtra.
Ishan had also topped IIT-JEE from the city securing an all India rank of 94 and in the process helped Nagpur break into the top 100 after a couple of years. The ardent Harry Potter fan was vacationing in Singapore when he got the news.
Pranjali Dudhe from Dr Ambedkar College also brought glory by standing first in the state in the SC category. Though the count from Shivaji Science and other colleges was not known, as many as 38 from Dr Ambedkar College at Deekshabhoomi have made the mark with Amrut Bawane topping the chart with 106 AIR. Amrut is thus second from the city and ninth in the state.
Kalpesh Patil secured the second rank in the OBC category in state. He was followed by Akash Patil and Tanmay Dhote.
CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi informed that out of 10.53 lakh students who appeared in AIEEE, over 3.98 lakh will be invited for the counselling. Spokesperson Rama Sharma added that candidates from general, OBC, SC/ST and physically handicapped who obtained 48, 45, 18 and 18 marks respectively would be declared eligible to fill in their choices for online counselling for BE/BTech and BArch/BPlanning to be conducted by Central Counseling Board-2011. The students can get more details of admission on ccb.nic.in.
