Students to get caste certificate in std IX
The revenue department has decided to make things easy for students who need caste, income and domicile certificates for admissions to standard XI. Students would be asked to fill up forms during Diwali vacations in std IX so that they get the certificates before entering std X."Every year students and their parents have a difficult time after SSC examinations in obtaining various certificates. We will coordinate with schools and make students fill up forms for the certificates they need. They would be issued certificates in due time after completing the necessary procedure," revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat told the media on Saturday. He was in the city for a review meeting with Vidarbha's top officials, including Praveen Darade and Saurabh Rao.
The department has already relaxed norms for domicile certificates. The school leaving certificate of students born in Maharashtra mentions the birthplace. Hence if a student has been born and has passed SSC from the state then the school leaving certificate will be treated as the domicile certificate.
In order to bridge the gap between cities and villages, the department will provide more online services to villagers. Most documents in cities are now issued using computers and some even through internet. However, in most villages it is still done manually.
"We are providing laptops to patwaris so that we can issue 7/12 extracts, certificates of caste, domicile and income online. The villagers can take out the print out of these documents," Thorat said.
The minister further said that his department would start Maha e-seva kendras at every zilla parishad (ZP) circle level soon. "Presently, each circle has a Setu centre. Now the documents processed at taluka headquarters would be done at circle level which will reduce the time of issuance. This experiment has been carried out in Nanded and Aurangabad districts and the results have been extremely positive."
Revenue department is also holding camps to issue various certificates. So far it has held 393 camps in Nagpur division and 68,792 documents have been issued in these camps. The department is also organising ferfar adalats in which property transfer cases where the necessary formalities have not been done even after one month are dealt with.
